The 19th Annual Memorial Field Fundraiser at the Wanamingo Community Center is Thursday, March 28, 2019.  Serving is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with all proceeds going toward improvements at the baseball and softball fields in Wanamingo.

I can't believe it's been 19 years. The improvements they've made to the fields in Wanamingo have been amazing.  Proof if you have a vision, share that vision and enough people see the good in what you are doing then goals can be accomplished.  The current baseball and softball fields were built piece by piece through this fundraiser.

The Pasta Supper is catered by Area 57 Cafe in Wanamingo.  Cafe owner and Mayor Ryan Holmes father was one of the people instrumental in getting the dream accomplished.  The Jack Holmes Memorial Press Box also features the John Whipple Memorial Concession Stand which served scores and scores of Morrie Burgers over the years until we lost Morrie Hjermstad in October 2016.

Appropriately with the passing of Morrie the burgers were retired in Wanamingo.

One of the event organizers Larry VanDeWalker told KDHL this year they plan on using the proceeds to construct a shed for the batting cage, pitching machine and other items.  The Kenyon-Wanamingo High School shop class will construct the shed so they only have to pay for the materials.
