Professional Pride Realty in Northfield introduced us to their two newest agents on today's KDHL AM MInnesota program.  Deanna Cross and Rob Schanilec just recently joined the Professional Pride team and joined us on the program to discuss a wide range of realty related topics.

First we asked why the two decided to become real estate agents.  Cross is married to longtime Professional Pride Agent Bob Cross and said her husband did encourage her because he believed she had the skill set necessary to be successful.  She enjoys working with people and specifically helping people.

Schanilec also enjoys helping people and has known Professional Pride owner Pete Mergens since he started the business.  Schanilec believes his 35 years in the Northfield area is a big benefit for him because he knows the region so well.

Schanilec says when people move to a community they don't just take in the benefits of the community they live in but the entire region.  He adds people moving to Northfield also enjoy the surrounding area of Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Faribault.

The two had some tips for home sellers and buyers and echoed what Pete Mergens has been telling us for the last several months.  Inventory in Northfield is very low.

That makes now a perfect time to sell a home.

The Minnesota Association of Realtors says the lack of inventory is not just a Northfield area issue but is being experienced across the state.

Minnesota Realtors CEO Chris Galler says statewide inventory is down about 25 percent in the number of listings with transactions up over the last month.

Galler says the median price is around $237,000 dollars in the state and $270,000 dollars in the metropolitan area.

Northfield is experiencing a 6.6 percent increase in price over a year ago with the average approximately $265,100.

Faribault median price is $188,200.  Owatonna $174,200.
