The eighth annual Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony for Triton High School was held Saturday, October 12. The inductees were recognized during halftime of the Cobras football game Friday night. The mission of the hall of fame is "Honoring outstanding achievements of athletes, coaches, and community supporters of Claremont, Dodge Center, West Concord and Triton High School."

The class of 2019 includes coach Sharon Gunhus, who was a physical education teacher who pioneered girls sports as the head coach in girls basketball and track and field. She also was involved in the volleyball, gymnastics, and softball programs. Gunhus passed away from breast cancer in 1997 at the age of 57.

Tyler Head enters the hall as a supporter and fan. The 2011 graduate managed football, basketball, and wresting during his time as a Cobra. He lettered twice in track and field in sprint events. The 1962-63 West Concord boys basketball team coached by Mr. Hanson was inducted.

Six individual athletes were also inducted in the hall of fame.

  • Dan Miller - West Concord class of 1971 - football, wrestling, track and field. Miller was a two-time shot put champion in the Wasioja Conference.
  • Greg Lussier - 1983 graduate of Claremont - football basketball, baseball. Lussier scored more than 1,000 points during his prep basketball career.
  • Shari (Keck) Neuharth - Claremont class of 1983 - volleyball, basketball, softball. Neuharth was part of an unbeaten volleyball regular season in 1980.
  • Barry Hargens - 1984 grad of West Concord - football, basketball, track and field. Hargens set the West Concord basketball scoring record and was a two-time Minnesota Mr. Basketball nominee.
  • Heather (Casey) Smith - class of 1984 of West Concord - volleyball and basketball. Smith scored over 1,000 points in basketball and is a two-time finisher of the Twin Cities Marathon.
  • Matt Hanson - Triton class of 2004 - cross country, wrestling, and track and field. Hanson participated in all three sports at Buena Vista College in Iowa. He is currently a professional triathlete and coach. He missed the hall of fame weekend due to the Ironman World Championship event in Hawaii.
