An exciting, busy weekend started for me with the Owatonna Athletic Hall of Fame reception and included some time with my daughter at Harvest Jam in Rochester.

I was more concerned about dealing with traffic on Monday than any emotional farewell we might have when my wife and I took our son to the University of Minnesota.

My first seven jobs including a couple of different media positions and a short stint as an intramural flag football referee while attending the University of Minnesota.  

It's usually pretty easy to be in a good mood on a Friday. Plus I am going to my high school reunion this weekend. Then a nice thing happened on my way to work.

My daughter and I entered the lottery this week for the Medtronic Twin City Ten Mile. I'll find out July 19 if we win or not. I suppose I hope we win and get into the race on October 9.

I realize what goes up must come down. However I don't consider running downhill to be easier than running uphill. And mountains are another matter entirely.

My son recently had his final day of high school, though it didn't involve going to a high school. His prep career wrapped up with an early morning final followed by video games.

With the nice weather seemingly here to stay you may go for a Sunday cruise. Several Owatonna intersections will help keep your navigation skills sharp.

Last October I committed to run a 10-mile event this coming October. My daughter had just run in a race leading up to the Twin Cities Marathon. I wished I was out there with her.

Every dog is a pup on National Puppy Day, which was observed Wednesday. It was the 10th anniversary of the day that brings attention to the idea of adopting a dog.
