Sunday’s Snow Totals Downgraded For Southeast Minnesota

La Crosse, WI (KROC AM News) - It appears residents of southeast Minnesota are catching somewhat of a break from Mother Nature.

The National Weather Service is downgrading the amount of snow that is expected to develop across the region Sunday.

The NWS issued a forecast Friday that predicted 2 - 4 inches of snow could fall. An updated forecast issued Saturday morning indicates totals are now expected to be 1 - 3 inches. Areas along I-90 and southwest Minnesota could see 2 - 4 inches. That’s what the area received Tuesday.

Rochester could still set a snowfall record, the second in less than a week. Tuesday’s total of 2.1 inches was the most ever for Oct. 20th. The record for Oct 25th (Sunday) is .4 inches.

And there’s another possible record looming for Rochester - a cold weather record. The all-time low temperature for Oct. 27th is 13 degrees. The forecast low is 14 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to remain 10 degrees below normal all next week.- the final week of Daylight Saving Time.
