The Steele County Food Shelf has their Hometown Sampler this weekend, March 1-3. You can read about the acts along with times here.

Over the last two years the Steele County Food Shelf has seen an increase of some 200 households seeking their services. The number of households has increased from 550 to 750 in 2018. A number of the families seeking assistance are often new residents who have relocated to Owatonna to gain employment and need the shelf's service just once to help get a jump start in their new community. Nancy Ness of the food shelf says money can go a long way. In fact a meal can be provided for just 23 cents. That's means one little dollar can provide 4 meals with the buying power of the food shelf.

Two weeks ago the Steele County Food Shelf gained their certification as a Super Shelf. You can learn more about what this means here.
