Janet Sletten, a familiar face at St. Dominic's in Northfield, is retiring after 42 years. With the current situation and social distancing on all of our minds it just didn't seem right to Janet's co-workers, and students past and present. So they decided to throw her a surprise parade featuring the Northfield Police Department and Fire Department.

According to a story by Fox 9 KMSP-TV, the surprise parade was also on Janet's birthday. Janet told Fox 9, "I am glad I had 42 years to teach at St. Dominic School, it's been the best, the very, very best time. I'm so grateful for it all."

The parade, which you can watch a part of below, featured plenty of vehicles honking, some homemade posters, and balloons to complete Janet's send off after 42 years at St. Dominic's Catholic School in Northfield.

According to her bio on the school's website Janet states that "There are so many rewarding times in teaching. It is a wonderful feeling to watch them learn to read and to love reading. As I watch my students embrace their faith as young children, my hope is that they become life long, faith-filled Catholics."
