Cannon Falls, MN ( KROC AM News)  - A southern Minnesota teenager apparently drowned after jumping off a cliff at a lake near Cannon Falls.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office says the victim had been jumping at Lake Byllesby Monday afternoon.

During one of his jumps, another juvenile jumped and landed on the victim. The victim did not surface and a 911 call was made around 5:30 PM. His body was recovered about three hours later.

He was identified as 17-year-old Garrett Berg of Farmington.

The sheriff’s office says “The Lake Byllesby cliffs can only be accessed by crossing private property, which is posted, and the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office routinely responds to the area to remove and/or cite violators. Earlier in the day, deputies responded and removed around 30 individuals from the area.”
