Southeast Iowa Animal Shelter Gets HUGE Anonymous Donation
Animal shelters rely heavily (if not entirely) on donations, which is why it's so exciting when a big one comes in.
According to Daily Democrat, Sandy Brown's Protector of Animal Welfare shelter in Fort Madison, Iowa just received a huge donation from an anonymous giver. The report states that the shelter received a gift card during the matching gift challenge they hosted and it was worth $50,000! Shelter owner Sandy Brown was at a loss for words when she learned of the donation.
I don’t usually hyperventilate, but I was close. This is beyond amazing." -Sandy Brown
That money will be put to good use too as it will go toward a new PAW shelter that will cost between $4 and $8 million.
It's so cool to see such generosity, especially when it goes to help animals that can't help themselves. There are plenty of shelters in the area looking for help too. Last Hope Animal Rescue, S.A.I.N.T. Cat Rescue, and Safe Haven of Iowa County are all shelters that we work with that could use your help. Here are some ways you can help:
- Donate food, beds, toys, etc.
- Make a monetary donation
- Volunteer your time
- Open your home to a foster pet
Those are just some of the ways that you can help, but there are plenty more. Click the names of the shelters above to find out how you can help, and to see all of the amazing pets that are up for adoption.
