Since we have to endure winter anyway, may as well find some ways to celebrate it. Owatonna High School holds its Snow Week February 10-14. They recently announced the top candidates for Snow Queen and Snow King.

In a notion that every vote counts in this election year, there are 16 candidates for queen due to a tie. There are the usual number of king nominees at twelve. The top five will be revealed Friday, January 31.

Activities for the week with the theme Snowed In include a basketball extravaganza on Monday, February 10 at 7 pm at the high school, a dance on Friday, February 14 at McKinley School, and a medallion hunt throughout the week.

Dress up days will feature pajama day (Monday, February 10), Hawaiian day (Tuesday, February 11), Groutfit or cartoons days (Wednesday, February 12), jersey day (Thursday, February 13), and flannel day (Friday, February 14).

The top five king and queen finalists pep fest is Friday, February 7 and the crowning of Snow Week Queen and King is Monday, February 10 to lead off the week.
