The Huskies open at home Thursday versus Mayo, then will have to battle a pair of ranked teams. NRHEG starts at home, while Blooming Prairie, Medford and Triton all open on the road.

WRESTLING, SECTION 1AAA

As expected, Owatonna received the No. 3 seed for the section 1AAA wrestling tournament, which begins Thursday at the site of the higher seed. The Huskies will host Rochester Mayo at 7 p.m. Radio coverage on KRFO AM 1390 and on Radiopup. The semifinals are Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester. OHS could see No. 2 seed Farmington (No. 8-ranked in the state) in that round. The finals will follow at 12:45 p.m. Top seed Hastings (No. 7 AAA) is the defending champion. Saturday's high school coach's show broadcast included Owatonna's Cliff Casteel.

WRESTLING, SECTION 2A

Top seed Jackson County Central is the five-time defending section 2A champ. Blue Earth Area is the second seed. NRHEG is third and will host Hayfield at 7 p.m. Thursday in New Richland. Medford goes to Maple River in the 4 vs. 5 match-up. Blooming Prairie faces St. Clair at 6 p.m. Thursday, with the winner battling JCC immediately after.

Kasson-Mantorville (No. 2 AA) is the top seed and has won the section the past five seasons. Albert Lea (No. 3-ranked) is the second seed. Stewartville (No. 11 AA) is the third seed. Quarterfinals are Thursday at the high seed. Semifinals begin at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

WRESTLING, SECTION 1A

Top seed Kenyon Wanimingo (No. 2 A) has finished as the section runner-up for five consecutive seasons. Zumbrota-Mazeppa (No. 6) is the second seed. Triton is seeded 10th and will face St. Charles at 6 p.m. Thursday at Mazeppa. The winner faces Z-M at 7 p.m. that same night. The semifinals are at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center.
