The Big Nine Conference gymnastics meet is Saturday (Feb. 7) at Northfield. Huskies coach Tom Smith says Owatonna can contend for a title:

 

The Owatonna wrestlers wrapped up regular-season action with a Highway 14 Showdown against No. 2AA Kasson-Mantorville. The Komets won 38-25, but Owatonna had some nice victories along the way. Coach Cliff Casteel also gives us a preview of the section tournament, which starts Thursday.

 

Owatonna High School boys basketball rallied for a win over Winona on Tuesday and grabbed control early at Faribault on Friday. Coach Josh Williams provides an update:

 

OHS girls basketball rebounded from a loss at Winona with a narrow victory over Faribault on Friday night. Coach Tricia Hoffman is hoping to use that win as a springboard to a strong finish on the season:

Owatonna boys swimming had a busy week with home meets against Mankato West and Albert Lea. Coach Sam Hager liked his team's efforts.

 

The OHS girls hockey team gave No. 9-ranked Lakeville North a run for their money in Wednesday's section playoff opener. The game was tied 0-0 entering the third, before the Panthers scored the 3-0 win. Coach Tim Hunst was proud of the team's performance.

 

The Blooming Prairie girls basketball squad completed an unbeaten run through the Gopher Conference on Friday night with their win over Maple River. Coach John Worke says the team has three good nonconference games ahead to wrap up the season:

NRHEG wrestling captured the Gopher Conference championship with their victory over Blooming Prairie on Thursday. Coach Shawn Larson says that was a goal at the start of the season.

 

NRHEG boys basketball coach Pat Churchill takes us through a huge win over Waseca and a tough loss to WEM this week.

 

Panthers girls basketball had their six-game winning streak snapped by WEM on Friday night. Coach Onika Peterson comments.

 

Medford girls basketball split their games this week, beating Schaeffer Academy on Friday. Coach Mark Kubat spoke about this week's action and some big games with seeding implications that are coming up.

Triton boys basketball coach Adam Girtman comments on a very busy stretch for the Cobras.

 

Cobras girls coach Adam Barner says his team put up a good fight this week against a couple of very good clubs (Hayfield and Goodhue).
