Rochester Police ID Victims of Suspected Murder-Suicide

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police have released the names of the father and son who died yesterday in a suspected murder-suicide.

Police Captain Casey Moilanen says 61-year-old Gary Pearson and 18-year-old Maxwell Pearson were found at the family’s home suffering from what proved to be fatal gunshot wounds. Officers were sent to the property in the 1500 block of 8th Avenue Northwest around 4 PM when the older man’s wife returned home and found her teenage son had apparently taken his own life. Police later found her husband, also fatally wounded, in another area of the family’s home.

Moilanen says investigators are waiting for autopsy results before making a final determination on the manner of death for both men. In the meantime, investigators say there does not appear to be any risk or threat to the general public’s safety associated with the deadly shootings.
