Red Wing juniors Sophia Yoemans and Leah Herzog are in first and second place at the MSHSL Girls Class AA Golf Tournament in Jordan after turning in record low scores.  Herzog had a 66 (32-34) and didn't have the record long when classmate Yoemans carded a 63 (30-33).  Despite those two super low scores Red Wing is in third place after the first round of competition.

Detroit Lakes has the team lead with a 321 and Marshall is six strokes back with a 327.  The Red Wing team score is 329.  The Winger other two low scores were 100 each.  Other area scores include sophomore Ava Wallerich of Lake City with a 75 (37-38) good enough for fifth place.  Lake City sophomore Marah Rothgam scored a 82 (42-40) and is in 15th place in the 87 person field.  Byron senior Grace Hillemeier has a 85 (43-42) and Kasson-Mantorville freshman Elizabeth Faferlind also shot a 85 (43-42)  which has them tied for 29th place.

In Class A BOLD has the lead by 7 strokes over Lac qui Parle Valley after a first day team score of 347.  Section One representative Fillmore Central is in third place with a 358.

Two ladies are tied for the lead in the medalist hunt with a opening round 76.  Park Christian junior Emily Doeden (39-37) and Lac qui Parle Valley sophomore Rachel Halverson (37-39) have a two stroke lead over Fillmore Central senior Grace Miller  78 (39-39) and Murray County Central sophomore Abby Hamman 78 (37-41).

Here are some other scores from participants from the area.  Fillmore Central junior Madison Scheevel 82 (41-41).  Senior Morgan Pyzick of United South Central carded a 102 (48-54) and is in 51st place in the 85 person field.

In Class 3A Roseville Area (318) has a three stroke lead over Edina (321) in the team competition.  Lakeville North is in third place after scoring a 325 Blaine 7th grader Kathryn Van Arragon had an opening round 70 (34-36) to lead the field of 87 on the Bunker Hills course in Coon Rapids.  Northfield junior Molly Stevens and Lakeville North senior Megan Welch are tied in second place after both shot a 72 on the opening day.  Welch (36-36) and Stevens (36-36).

Lakeville North freshman Emma Welch carded a 77 (42-35) and is in 10th place going into the second day of competition.  Lakeville South junior Jessica Smith is in 16th place with a 79 (39-40).  Rochester Mayo senior Erin O'Hara shot a 81 (41-40).  Winona senior Lexi Partington an 84 (43-41) which places her in 32nd place.

Only six girls had scores over 100 in Class 3A.
