The season opens for most high school football teams in Minnesota this Friday or Saturday. A few began last weekend. And several are forced to postpone or cancel games due to COVID results. For the teams hours away from opening their season, it has been a whirlwind of a few weeks. And there was no scrimmage to work through question marks.

One coach told be the opener will be the trial grounds for players trying to break into the starting lineup. Another coach indicated his staff has simplified some components of their offensive schemes for the opener as to avoid mistakes. Yet another coach was simply happy last week to have his players together for the first time in a long time due to distance learning that interrupted the opening weeks of school. And another coach was hopeful that a whole season can happen without any health-related shutdown.
