Owatonna Knights Of Columbus Make Smokin’ Donation To Owatonna Special Olympics

With a big crowd assembling for the first Polar Plunge in Owatonna to benefit Special Olympics Minnesota, the Owatonna Knights of Columbus made a check presentation to the local Special Olympics group.

On behalf of Owatonna Knights of Columbus Council 945 and The Smokin' in Steele committee, a check for $8,000 was presented to the Owatonna Area Special Olympics on Jan. 31. The money was raised through the many events held at Smokin' in Steele BBQ and Blues in 2014.

Smokin' in Steele BBQ and Blues is a Kansas City BBQ Association-sanctioned state competition and regional festival produced by Owatonna Knights of Columbus Council 945. Along with the competition, there are events for the whole family, including a backyard amateur cook off, harmonica lesson for kids, a 5K Fun Run, Antique Tractor Display and parade, LIVE music, a Kid's 'Q competition, a Hot Rod Garden Tractor Pull, and food/ beverage vendors. The eighth annual event will be May 29-31 at the Steele County Fairgrounds. This is but one of many events sponsored by Owatonna Knights of Columbus Council 945 to support and give back to the community.
