Owatonna’s Chili Cook-Off Brings the Heat on Saturday
The 13th annual Chili Cook-Off Contest is Saturday, January 28, at Ritchie Brothers Auctioneers on the north end of Owatonna. Hours will be 4-8PM. Proceeds benefit the Andrew Lawrence Memorial Scholarship Fund. Andy was a young man who lost his life in a car-bike accident. To date, more than $60,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
The evening consists of a wide array of chilis for the public to sample. About 50 craftsmen will be on hand with delicious chilis to sample. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite chili. There will be red and white chili with a number of interesting ingredients in some such as Jack Daniels, chocolate, elk and more.
There will also be competition between 10 area eating establishments. They include the Owatonna Country Club, Cash Wise, Costas, Geneva Bar and Grill, Torey's, Famous Daves, Hy-Vee, Old Town Bagels, Fareway Foods and the Kernel.
Tickets are $8 in advance and on sale at Kottke Jewelers, Owatonna Shoe, Huntington's and the Knights of Columbus Hall. Tickets at the door will be $10.
