The Owatonna Chamber of Commerce and Tourism invites its members to an informational meeting Wednesday, May 6, at 7:15PM at the Owatonna High School small group forum.

Owatonna schools Director of Finance and Operations Tom Sager and Superintendent Pete Grant will lead an informational session on the results of the recently completed task force meetings. Three months of study and meetings have led to a series of recommendations for the district's facilities needs for the next decade.

Wednesday's information session for OACTT members will run from 7:15-8:15PM at the high school. No preregistration is necessary.

The task force recommendations address the area of elementary overcrowding, maintenance and school security. Ideas to be presented to the school board on May 11 include converting Willow Creek into a K-5 elementary school and moving sixth-graders into the junior high. Additions to Lincoln and McKinley Elementary schools are also possible. Certain maintenance that has been delayed would be completed as well. That includes some parking lot work, heating and cooling, and fire safety systems.
