Owatonna and Farmington meet for the Section 1-4A boys basketball championship Friday, March 18 at 6 pm at the Mayo Civic Center Arena in Rochester. The winner advances to the MSHSL state tournament which opens on Tuesday, March 22 at Target Center.

This is the third straight year that Owatonna and Farmington have intersected in the section tournament, but only the second time they will actually play. In 2021 Farmington was forced to forfeit to the Huskies in the semifinals due to COVID. OHS then went to Lakeville South and won the section title, their seventh crown.

Owatonna (No. 6 ranking in Minnesota Basketball News, 26-2 overall record) is on a 20-game winning streak. Their last loss was January 8 to Park Cottage Grove 58-52 in overtime in the Hoops Challenge at Kasson-Mantorville High School. The Huskies average 74 points per game and give up 53.
