Top seed and nationally rated Hopkins rolled, White Bear Lake, Roseville Area and St. Michael-Albertville all won in quarterfinals of the MSHSL Class 4A Girls Basketball Tournament.

The Royals dominated #15 rated Lakeville North 66-43.  The #5 seed, #18 rated Bears edged #4 seed, #10 ranked Rosemount 35-34, the #19 rated Raiders downed #2 seed, #8 ranked Shakopee 39-32. The #3 seed, #5 rated Knights defeated #12 ranked Centennial 69-58.

Hopkins had a 28-14 halftime lead and shot better from 3 point range than 2 point in the game.  The Panthers never led in the game where turnovers reigned supreme.  Lakeville North had 23 turnovers that the Royals turned into 27 points, 16 to 0 was the ledger in fast break points in favor of Hopkins also.

Every player from both teams got to play on the raised floor in The Barn.

Sophomore 5'9 Liv Mcgill led all players with 20 points including 4 for 4 from three point range.  Junior 6'0 Taylor Woodson had 14 points, 9 rebounds and senior 5'0 Amaya Battle finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds.

Lakeville North had no players reach double figures but sophomore 6'2 Trinity Wilson had 9 points, 11 rebounds.  Freshman 5'11 Elayna Boe added 9 points, sophomore Gabby Betton 8 points.

The Royals will play White Bear Lake 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Williams Arena.  The Panthers go to Concordia St. Paul to play fellow South Suburban member Rosemount 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022.

#5 seed, #18 rated White Bear Lake and #4 seed, #19 ranked Rosemount hooked up in a defensive affair.  The Bears had a 20-18 halftime lead in the game that featured 6 lead changes and 5 ties.

The stat of the game was undoutedly points off turnovers for White Bear Lake.  14 points off turnovers.  It's amazing the Bears won considering the Irish had 20 points in the paint and Rosemount 6.

Four players scored for the Irish led by senior 6'0 Tayah Leenderts 18 points, 9 rebounds.

White Bear Lake had no players score double figures in their victory.  They were led by freshman 5'7 Abigail O'Brien with 9 points, sophomore 5'11 Jordyn Schmittdiel added 8 and senior 6'0 Nevaeh Hughes had 7 points, 8 rebounds.

On the other side of the Class 4A bracket Roseville and Shakopee hooked up in a defensive battle. The difference in the game appeared to be 7 three point baskets for the Raiders while the Sabers were 1 of 18 from behind the arc.

Roseville Area (22-8) was 7 of 18 from three point range.

There were 4 lead changes, 2 ties in the game with Shakopee (26-4) only experiencing a lead 2:34 of the game.

The South Suburban Champion Sabers had one player in double figures.  Senior Jasmyn Hale amassed 12 points, 8 rebounds while playing every second of the game.

Roseville Area was led by sophomore 5'7 Kendall Barnes with 15 points, 7 reboounds.

St. Michael-Albertville (22-7) had 18 second chance points in their win over the Cougars of Centennial (19-11).  The Knights leading scorer was junior 6'0 Tessa Johnson with 24 points while playing every second of the game. She was 6 of 10 from three point range.

Sophomore 5'8 Ja'Kahla Craft was 5 of 10 from downtown with 19 points.  Senior 5'2 Emma Miller chipped in 15 points, 9 assists.

St. Michael-Albertville tallied 14 three point baskets in the game on 30 attempts while Centennial was 7 of 27.

The Cougars were led in scoring by senior 5'9 Sydney Kubes with 14 points, 7 rebounds.  Senior 5'8 Camille Cummings added 12 points, 5 boards.  Sophomore 5'8 Marisa Frost had 12 points in approximately 30 minutes of action.

The Knights will play Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. against the Roseville Area Raiders in The Barn.
