Doctors across Minnesota from a cross section of healthcare providers say, "We're heartbroken. We're overwhelmed." The nine President and Chief Executive Officers in a letter and other advertising to debut this week are asking residents to get vaccinated and take other precautions against COVID-19.

The news release, available from Allina.com, states, "Almost two years into the pandemic, Minnesota health care is in one of the most difficult positions it has been in since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in our state. Doctors, nurses and people working in health care are doing everything they can to support the health of all Minnesotans."

The announcement claims "health care workers see avoidable illness and death as a direct result on DOVID-19. Health systems have risen to every challenge put before them, but they are overwhelmed and cannot continue to carry this burden."

The CEO's and Presidents are asking the public to take steps.

  • Get vaccinated or get a booster shot.
  • Wear masks whether vaccinated or not.
  • Social distance themselves when possible.
  • Get tested for COVID-19 if they feel sick.
  • Encourage neighbors to do these things as well.

The release is signed by

  • J. Kevin Croston, MD - CEO, North Memorial Health
  • Gianrico Farrugia, MD - President/CEO, Mayo Clinic
  • James Hereford, President/CEO, Fairview Health Systems
  • Kenneth Holmen, MD - President/CEO, CentraCare
  • Jennifer DeCubellis, CEO, Hennepin Healthcare
  • Marc Gorelick, MD - President/CEO Children's Minnesota
  • Penny Wheeler, MD - Allina Health

What Do I Do If I Lose My COVID-19 Vaccination Card?

When you get your COVID-19 vaccine, you're handed a card that details the date, manufacturer variety, and location of your dose. If you're getting one of the two-dose vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna), you'll need that card to coordinate your second and final dose. But even with the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and even after getting the second shot, you'll need to keep that card in a safe place.

While nationwide vaccine mandates aren't a thing at the present time, there are a variety of times you might need that card even after completing the vaccine process. Many schools (primary, secondary, and higher education) are requiring the COVID-19 vaccine similar to other vaccinations. Additionally, some entertainment venues and mass transportation are requiring either proof of a negative COVID test or the vaccine card.

So what happens if you lose it? Relax. There are ways of obtaining a replacement - and they differ slightly whether you've lost it before getting both doses or after.
