‘Overwhelmed’ Minnesota Doctors Make Public Appeal
Doctors across Minnesota from a cross section of healthcare providers say, "We're heartbroken. We're overwhelmed." The nine President and Chief Executive Officers in a letter and other advertising to debut this week are asking residents to get vaccinated and take other precautions against COVID-19.
The news release, available from Allina.com, states, "Almost two years into the pandemic, Minnesota health care is in one of the most difficult positions it has been in since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in our state. Doctors, nurses and people working in health care are doing everything they can to support the health of all Minnesotans."
The announcement claims "health care workers see avoidable illness and death as a direct result on DOVID-19. Health systems have risen to every challenge put before them, but they are overwhelmed and cannot continue to carry this burden."
The CEO's and Presidents are asking the public to take steps.
- Get vaccinated or get a booster shot.
- Wear masks whether vaccinated or not.
- Social distance themselves when possible.
- Get tested for COVID-19 if they feel sick.
- Encourage neighbors to do these things as well.
