The 2019 Minnesota State High School League Girls Track and Field Championships concluded Saturday on the Hamline University Campus in St. Paul.  The Rosemount Irish edged Alexandria for the Class AA title 71.75 to 70.  Northfield placed 8th for the highest finish among Big Nine Conference schools. Prior Lake and Farmington were 11th and 12th to lead the South Suburban Conference.

Northfield Raiders senior Elizabeth Acheson led the way with a championship in the 800 Meter Run.  Winning the title with a time of 2:12.18. Faribault junior Madelyn Skjeveland competed but did not qualify for the finals.  Raiders sophomore Emma Hodapp finished third in the 100 Meter Dash with a 12.36 time.  The 4x400 Meter Relay team of freshman Clara Lippert, junior Ella Palmquist, senior Grace Acheson and senior Elizabeth Acheson placed 6th.  Senior Emma Roethler finished 5th in the Shot Put with a toss of 41 feet 3/4 inches.  Junior Mya Lesnar of Alexandria (daughter of former Golden Gopher and professional wrestler Brock Lesnar) had the best throw of 43 feet 1 and a half inches.  Rosemount senior Tierra Doss was 4th.

Farmington junior Nyeaee Robins placed 6th in the 100 Meter Dash and 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash.  Robins was also 3rd in the 400 Meter Dash.  Sophomore Anna Fenske finished 6th in the 1600 Meter Run.

Waseca senior Odell Frye was 5th in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.39 and 6th in the 200 Meter Dash with a 25.40 time.  Junior Lexi Herman finished 3rd in the 800 Meter Run 2:13.42.  Senior Mackenzie Paul was 9th in the Discus. The Blue Jays were 17th.

Rosemount Irish senior Lauren Peterson is the 1600 Meter Run champion with a time of 4:52.69 and captured the 3200 Meter crown with a time of 10:38.03.  Freshman Ava Cinnamo placed 4th in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a 44 seconds time and teammate senior Rose Sieve was 9th at 45.85.  The 4x400 Meter Relay team is also a State Champion with a time of 3:51.89.  A full 3+ seconds ahead of Wayzata.  The Irish team consisted of freshman Ava Cinnamo, senior Lauren Peterson, senior Amber Johnson and freshman Jenna Johnson.  Senior Alexis Berger was 2nd in the Pole Vault clearing 11 feet 9 inches.  Senior Char Morke of Cambridge Isanti is the State Champion with a finals performance of 12 feet 4 inches.  Rosemount Senior Tierra Doss placed 4th in the Shot Put.  Senior Arianna Pusseri finished 3rd in the Long Jump and junior Lauren Preiner was 3rd in the High Jump.

Lakeville South 4x800 Meter Relay was 4th with junior Cassie Jenny leading off followed by eighth grader Avery Heinz, 7th grader Annabelle King and junior Brianne Brewster.

Lakeville North sophomore Mikelle Naatjes finished 3rd in the Pole Vault.

Burnsville freshman Zoie Dundon placed 7th in the 800 Meter Run and junior Hannah Buchanan was 7th in the High Jump.

Other placements from Big Nine athletes included:  The 4x100 Meter Relay from Winona was 5th and included 7th grader Gwen Buswell, junior Kaelah Simmons, sophomore Maquetta Berlin Burns and sophomore Anissa Lee.

The 4x200 Meter Relay from Red Wing placed 2nd and consisted of freshman Cadence Thorson, sophomore Ella Scott, senior Emily Hart and senior Tyler McGrath.  Junior Grace Johnson was 4th in the 3200 Meter Run.

Rochester Mayo senior Annie Wendt is the Minnesota AA Girls Long Jump Champion with a leap of 18 feet 8 and 1/2 inches.  Wendt also placed 2nd in the Triple Jump

Mankato West freshman Abby Olenius was 9th in the Pole Vault.
