The Hopkins Royals Edged the Rosemount Irish 78-76 to win the Boys State Track and Field Championships at Hamline University in St. Paul today.  Rochester Century had the most points of a Big Nine Conference team with 25 and placed ninth.  Prior Lake led the South Suburban Conference with a eighth place finish and 26 points.

Eleven Big Nine athletes placed while 28 brought home some hardware from the South Suburban Conference in Class AA.  Junior AJ Green of Eastview repeated as 800 Meter Run champion with a time of 1:49.93.  Last year he was champion with a time of 1:52.19.

Rosemount senior Maxwell Otterdahl repeated as Shot Put champion and also came in on top in the Discus Throw.  His Shot Put mark was 64 feet 4 inches.  Last year he won with a throw of 58 feet 7 and 1/4 inches.  The winning Discus mark was 191 feet 4 inches.

Owatonna junior Kennan Young placed second in the 300 Meter Hurdles.  Rochester Century junior Samuel Amusan was second in the 200 Meter Dash.  Mankato East junior Alex Berg finished third in the Pole Vault by clearing 14 feet 6 inches.  Senior Alec Wittman of East Ridge cleared 15 feet for the title.

The Rochester Century Panthers were second in the 4x100 Meter Relay.  The first runner was sophomore Isaiah Huber, second senior Steven Nah, third senior Colin Smith and anchor junior Samuel Amusan.  Mankato West finished second in the 4x200 Meter Relay.  Junior Tyler Makela, senior Melik Davis, junior Jonathan Sikel and senior Tristan Altenburg comprise the team.  Rochester Century was 5th in the 4x400 Meter Relay.  Sophomore Isaiah Huber led off, senior Kyle Philpott ran second, Samuel Amusan third and senior Steven Nah anchored.

Rochester John Marshall senior Simon Werven finished 9th in the High Jump.  Austin junior Oliver Andersen tied for 4th in the Discus Throw.  Winona junior Carter Briggs was 9th in the 3200 Meter Run.

Faribault junior Trey Krannich participated in the High Jump and was two inches away from placing.  Falcon senior Simon Thok Lual competed in the Triple Jump and came up about a yard short of a medal.

Lakeville South junior Daniel Attoh finished 7th in the 100 Meter Dash and 9th in the 200 Meter Dash.

Lakeville North 8th grader Bryce Stachewicz placed 7th and junior Brandon Stachewicz was 8th 800 Meter Run.  Senior Tyler Osen was 8th in the 1600 Meter Run.

Rosemount junior Prince Nti was 6th in the 100 Meter Dash.  Sophomore Brian Boakye-Ansa placed third in the 400 Meter Dash. Senior Luke Labatte finished 3rd in the 1600 Meter Run and 4th in the 3200 Meter Run.

Prior Lake sophomore Gabe Smith was 9th in the 1600 Meter Run.  The Lakers 4x200 Meter Relay team of senior Nick Mullins, junior Parker Ellis, senior Michael Wu and senior Keaton Schroeder was 7th.  Prior Lake was also 7th in the 4x400 Meter Relay with senior Nick Mullins, junior Taylor Flaata, junior Braeden Ericsson and senior Michael Wu running those legs.  Junior Parker Ellis placed third in the Long Jump.  Senior Jarod Henderson finished third in the Shot Put.

The Shakopee 4X100 Meter Relay team of senior Montez Hinton, senior Bryce Janke, junior Jack Casey and junior Connor Raines finished fifth.  Senior Jared Meier placed tied for 5th in the High Jump.  Junior Connor Raines placed 9th in the Long Jump.

The Farmington 4x800 Meter Relay team finished 6th with freshman Ramy Ayoub starting, junior Noah Revels going second, senior Regan Sevenich third and junior Aaron Kruse anchoring.

Burnsville senior Joseph Fee tied for 5th place in the High Jump.  Senior Kyle Atkinson finished second in the Shot Put.

Waseca sophomore Marcus Hansen placed third in the Discus and fifth in the Shot Put.
