New Vikings Training Facility is Amazing and Well Organized
Owatonna's Todd Walkingstick misses going to Mankato for Minnesota Vikings training camp. But the new TCO Training Center in Eagan has left a strong impression on the lifelong fan of The Purple.
Tickets are required to attend training camp in Eagan, even though most are free. Walkingstick was able to line up tickets for several of the first days of camp and took full advantage of soaking up the atmosphere, as he told KRFO during a recent interview.
Walkingstick was very impressed with the level of organization, as long as you have the correct app and have your ticket and parking pass downloaded. A drawback of the new location is reduced access to the players. Over the years, Walkingstick has taken many pictures along side players as you can find on his Facebook page. But he understands the reasoning that a larger buffer is necessary between the players and fans.
The practice fields are side-by-side and he could watch both fields at the same time, and said there was so much going on at once it was hard to keep up. He has added plenty of photos to his collection from his seat in the bleachers.
Walkingstick says the prices are quite affordable at the concession stands at TCO. He also enjoyed the Saturday, August 4 scrimmage which ended with a fireworks show. The team released additional tickets to attend training camp. Go to their website for information.
Minnesota plays its first preseason game Saturday, August 11. Walkingstick is a periodic guest on KRFO AM 1390, talking Vikings football in addition to local high school sports. He also hosts an online interview show through OwatonnaLive.com called Beyond the Game.
