The New Market Muskies used the long ball Friday night to defeat the Faribault Lakers 8-1 in Veseli.   Faribault native Nick Rost had a home run and Derek Bergstrom of Elko- New Market cranked two balls out of the park for the Muskies in the win.  Faribault will enter the State Amateur Baseball Tournament with a 19-15 record and will be the number two seed out of Region 3C.  Number three is New Prague and Number four St. Patrick from Region 3C.  Elko beat Hampton 5-2 in Elko Friday night and will participate in the Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament.

New Prague, Shakopee and Jordan are the hosts for State this season.  Faribault drafted pitchers Tanner Oakes, Rick Bell and Jeremy Heitkamp.  New Market drafted pitchers Conrad Masberg, Derek Masberg and Matt Perkinson.  The Muskies will not have to play the opening weekend of the tournament .  The reward for winning the Region 3C Tournament.

The Muskies made a splash during the regular season too, winning the Dakota-Rice-Scott League title.  We should have the Class C State Tournament bracket by Tuesday.
