Nature’s Own Honey Wheat Bread Recall
Flowers Foods, Inc. - makers of Nature's Own bread products has issued a voluntary recall for one of their product lines. Some lots of Nature's Own Honey Wheat Bread - sold in both the single loaf and double-loaf packages are being recalled due to a undeclared allergen.
According to details released by the United States Food and Drug Administration, the concern with these bread products is the undeclared presence of milk in the ingredients. "People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product".
The undeclared ingredient and potential allergy concern was spurred internally. The manufacturer discovered that loaves of Nature's Own Butterbread - which contains milk - was inadvertently packaged in Nature's Own Honey Wheat Break packaging. That error leaves the potential for allergen contact for someone who has a milk allergy. Because it was placed in the wrong packaging, that packaging for the Honey Wheat bread being recalled does not include that milk ingredient detail.
At the present time there have been no known reports of medical issues tied to the recalled bread product.
