No injuries were reported and that the vehicles had been removed from the lake, Kelly said. Photos from the scene indicated six vehicles had broken through the ice. The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office has since posted thin ice warnings in the area the vehicles broke through.

Sheriff’s Deputies in Brown County were dispatched to the report of a vehicle through ice Saturday afternoon on Lake Hanska, which is about 30 miles west of Mankato. A pick-up truck had fallen through the ice near the main landing, which officials have since closed due to thin ice.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is advising anyone driving on a frozen lake or river to remember that ice is never 100% safe, to avoid driving on ice if possible and to keep windows down in order to quickly escape your vehicle if it crashes through the ice.
