It’s Kind of Sad That Minnesota Has to Have this Law
New revisions to Minnesota's "Move Over" law take effect this Wednesday and if you fail to comply you could be ticketed and fined. WCCO explains the revision now requires, "All drivers to slow down on roads with two lanes of traffic when passing emergency vehicles, tow trucks, road maintenance and utility vehicles that are stopped on the side of the roadway with emergency or warning lights activated."
I'm kind of shocked that we need a law for this. Are people that inconsiderate? Isn't it common sense to slow down or move over when possible when approaching emergency or work vehicles?
A Minnesota State Patrol Facebook Post says, The Ted Foss Move Over Law used to only apply to four-lane roads but was expanded under the new law. Keep your eyes on the road and move over when you see flashing lights. If you can’t move over, slow down. It’s the law.
