Prior Lake, MN fifth-grader Peyton Chambers has made hundreds of face masks to give to family members, to sell, and to donate. She taught herself how to use her aunt's sewing machine to make these masks thanks to some tips from her aunt and a few videos she found online.

She originally decided to make masks just for her family members. Now, according to SW News Media, Peyton has made about 700 masks. You can purchase one of Peyton's masks if you would like.

She is selling her masks for $10 each. She is also donating at least one additional mask for each sold to local efforts. Places that Peyton has donated her masks so far, according to SW News Media, are "local homeless shelters, her teachers at St. Michael Catholic School and the University of Minnesota's high-risk pregnancy health care department," and others.

Right now there are not a lot of options when it comes to fabric since many people have purchase fabric to make masks. Thankfully, Peyton and her family had purchased quite a bit of fabric right at the beginning of the pandemic. Her dad also helped set up a connection at Bemidji Woolen Mills who donated chords and thread.

Peyton's masks are made with six pieces of cloth. If you're interested in purchasing a mask from Peyton, you can contact her family via email at peytonraechambers@gmail.com. The money that Peyton makes from the face mask sales either goes into her savings or she uses it to purchase more materials.
