5 Things Minnesotans Must Do Before it Freezes

17% of Minnesotans hate winter.  The first few snowflakes that fall from the sky are absolutely gorgeous, but driving on those flakes, especially when they turn into ice, is a whole thing.  Sometimes, it is a "thing" people shouldn't try.

Before the thermometer hits freezing in Minnesota, it is vital that you take care of these 5 things:

  • Put outdoor furniture away
  • Get the snowblower ready for that first big snowfall
  • Check your tires - bald tires don't do well on winter roads
  • Make sure your hats/gloves/coat/boots are ready to go (and fit!)
  • ...but the most vital item that could save you thousands is👇

Vital Task To Do Before it Freezes in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin

Every house has at least one of these items that needs your immediate attention before freezing temperatures hit our world.  If you ignore this, there is a chance that you will end up spending thousands of dollars to fix the issue.

Leaving water in the hose will cause the water to expand as it freezes, splitting the hose and damaging the pipework at the faucet. - pioneerunderground.net

Before the first freeze shows up, walk around your house and disconnect all of your hoses.

It’s important to remember to detach your garden hoses at the end of the season. Even if you have a “frost-free” spigot, you still need to remove the hose in the winter, or run the risk of your pipes freezing and bursting.

Why? Water expands when it freezes, and nothing changes that. When you leave your garden hose attached and filled with water, and that water freezes when the temperature dips, ice takes up nearly 10% more space than the same amount of liquid water does. Unfortunately, in the case of a water pipe, there’s no room for expansion. The result is burst pipes, broken valves and joints, or all of the above. - copperheadplumbing.com

Almost $9 Million Dollar House in Minnesota That is Going To Make Your Jaw Drop

You know those huge houses that are in movies? I've always wondered if the mansion where Batman lives is real. Or you know the party scenes for some of the Mission Impossible movies where there are a ton of people and somewhere in the crowd are the good guys who are trying to find the bad guys? This house in Minnesota is one of those places and it could be yours for almost $9 million. In fact, I'm pretty sure this house could actually be Batman's house because it is on its own island AND you go through a tunnel to get to the 8-stall garage.

According to Realtor.com, this house in Greenwood, Minnesota is listed by Jeffrey Dewing of Coldwell Banker Realty and as you can see from the photos, it is a masterpiece. It sits on 1.37 acres, has 5 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, has almost 14,000 square feet, one of Minnesota's largest residential glass-enclosed atriums, an elevator, movie theater, gym, sauna, locker room, relaxations room, not just one but a double wine room, bar lounge, poker room, and an indoor grotto.

The home was previously listed for $15 million by Jessica Prudden with Prudden & Company.
