Gas prices had been on a steady rise since the beginning of February perhaps the start of a small decline in the last couple weeks. Gas Buddy is reporting the average price for a gallon of gas in Minnesota is 2.72. According to Triple A this is about 4% higher than Memorial Weekend 2018. Owatonna is right at the average with a price of 2.73 per gallon. The cheapest gas in Minnesota can be found in Baxter with a price of 2.47. Stations in Maplewood and Woodbury check in next at 2.52.

Nationwide the price of gas is 2.84, somewhat high than the Minnesota average. Highest gas is California at 4.01 a gallon followed by Hawaii at 3.65 Three states are tied for the lowest price at 2.45 a gallon. They are Louisiana, Mississipi and Alabama.

Triple A estimates around 1.5 million will be taking to our nation's roads this weekend which is around a 3.6% increase from last year. Expect a lot of company on the roads this weekend. Be safe.
