McCauley Ends Winona State Career with Records, Awards & Diploma
2013 Owatonna High School grad Carter McCauley is now a Winona State University graduate too. He finished his undergrad degree in Cellular Molecular Biology this month and earned another Academic All-America award, his third. He holds numerous kicking records for the Warriors and in the Northern Sun Conference.
McCauley, who was the kicker on Owatonna's 2013 state championship football team, maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA at Winona State according to a news release from the College Sports Information Directors. He also has a minor in Biochemistry and plans to attend medical school. He earned Academic All-America First Team three times and was a Second Team selection once.
During his Winona State career, McCauley set a school career record with 55 made field goals, which is also the best all-time in the NSIC. He connected on a 59-yard field goal during his career, another Warriors' record. His 104 points this season is a new single-season record at Winona State. The Warriors advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in about a decade this fall.
While Owatonna High School broke 43 team records during this season's march to the state Class 5A championship, McCauley's name is still listed for most of the school's kicking records. He was also the goalkeeper for two Owatonna High School boys' soccer state tournament teams.
