Towns and cities near and far pay tribute to our brave men and women who have and are serving our country. A nice way to say "thank you." Each veteran memorial is so different and impressive.

KRFO/Kat Kountry's Account Exec Rich Will was in Arlington, Minn., which is north of St. Peter and near Lonsdale, and took some pictures of their veterans memorial. It included a helicopter, statues and dog tags.

Closer to home, Blooming Prairie is putting a veterans memorial together. Call the Servicemen's Club at (507) 583-7884 for more information.

Medford's Veterans Memorial is at Third Street Northeast and Second Avenue Northeast There looks as if more may be added. Co-worker Tamara Gruhot stopped by and took some pictures. The archway invites you in and the granite pillar in the middle with an eagle on top pays tribute to all the branches. There are so far two walls that have veterans' names and the branch they served etched in.

And a reminder, the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall will be in Faribault over Labor Day weekend, Wednesday, Aug. 31, to Monday, Sept. 5. According to the website, on Aug. 31 between 3-5PM the Wall will go from the Steele County Free Fair fairgrounds through downtown Owatonna, up Highway 45 to Medford, then through downtown Faribault and end at the Rice County Fairgrounds. The Wall set-up begins at 7AM Thursday, Sept. 1, and is open to the public beginning at 1PM, with an official welcome at 6:30PM.
