Lower Heating Bills Forecasted for Winter
Minnesota Energy Resources just sent a news release with their "winter heating forecast" and it is the first winter forecast I've actually liked seeing. It shows the average customer will pay 13% less this winter compared to last.
The energy company explains: "Our winter heating forecast is based on a 20-year average of winter weather and assumes the price of natural gas remains where it is today on the spot market. If both of those factors hold true, we expect the average customer will save $88 this winter compared to last year."
Minnesota Energy also provide these tips to keep your bill low:
- Turn your thermostat back 7-10 degrees when you’re asleep.
- Seal gaps around windows, doors and siding to keep warm air in and the howling wind out.
- Schedule a furnace tuneup for safety and efficiency, saving money in the long run.
