Lois Riess Now Facing Murder Charges; May Be in Florida
Mantorville, MN (KROC AM News) - Some new developments in a recent murder case in Blooming Prairie.
Several news media sources in Florida are reporting 56-year-old Lois Riess is "a person of interest" in the murder of a woman at the Marina Village at Snug Harbor resort in Ft Myers Beach earlier this week. The reports indicate Riess may be using the victim's name, Pamela Sellers Hutchinson.
In Minnesota, Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose Thursday afternoon disclosed in a Facebook post that 2nd-degree murder charges are now pending against Riess, who was earlier described as a person of interest in the shooting death of her husband.
In the post, Rose says the vehicle Riess was believed to be driving when she fled was found abandoned this week in Florida.
Rose says it's now believed she is driving a different vehicle, a stolen white 2005 Acura car with Florida license plates (Y37TAA).
The sheriff also says Riess is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
The body of 54-year-old David Riess was found in their Blooming Prairie home March 23rd. It’s believed he was shot several times two days before his body was discovered while officers were conducting a welfare check. His wife is accused of cashing $11,000 in checks made out to herself from her husband’s personal bank account shortly after depositing about $10,000 in checks made out to his wax worm business.
