Brenna Connelly from Byron was crowned the 67th Princess Kay of the Milky Way Wednesday evening in St Paul. It was strange that it was at a hotel in St Paul rather than at the Minnesota State Fair. The COVID-19 pandemic has turned everything upside-down. I was pleased that we did have a Princess Kay of the Milky Way program this year! There were 10 Dairy Princess finalists from all over Minnesota competing for the title of Princess Kay of the Milky Way.

Former KDHL Farm Broadcaster Rod Johnson emceed the program again this year and of course did a great job. Rod interviewed each of the Dairy Princesses and then 3 finalists were named. They were Emily Benrud from Goodhue County, Maggie Molitor from Sterns County and of course Brenna Connelly from Olmstead County. Rod opened the envelope and showed the name to the current Princess Kay of the Milky Way Amy Kyllo from Olmstead County.

Amy then took the crown and went back and forth from each of the 3 finalists until finally putting it on Brenna Connelly's head! What are the odds of Amy the 66th Princess kay of the Milky Way Crowning the 67th Princess Kay of the Milky Way Brenna Connelly who is from the same small town of Byron? Also, the 10 Dairy Princess voted Maggie Molitor Miss Congeniality. In addition the Midwest Dairy awarded 3 $1,000 scholarships. They went to Emily Benrud, Maggie Molitor and Brenna Connelly.

Click on the link and listen to comments from Princess Lay of the Milk Way Brenna Connelly and other Dairy Princess from our immediate listen area. By the way, the program began with Princess Kay of the Milky Way Amy Kyllo singing the National Anthem. Wow, can that young lady sing! Thank you to Midwest Dairy and Matt Addington for some of the pictures.
