Late Winter Storm Headed To Southern Minnesota?

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It appears the final few days of winter in southern Minnesota will be - wintry.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the western two-thirds of southern Minnesota.

The NWS says an approaching winter storm could produce heavy snow in the watch zone Sunday night into Monday morning - with possible totals of 5 - 8 inches.

Cities in the watch zone include New Ulm, St Peter, Le Sueur, St James, Mankato, Waseca, Owatonna, Fairmont, Blue Earth, and Albert Lea.

Although the Rochester area is not included in the watch, snowfall totals could be as high as 2 - 4 inches. Similar totals are possible between Rochester and the Iowa border. Parts of northeast Iowa could receive several inches.

The NWS says the storm could affect the Monday morning commute across all of southern Minnesota.
