(UPDATE) Rochester Man Convicted For 2019 Murder

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - It didn't take long for members of an Olmsted County jury to return a guilty verdict against a 25-year-old Rochester man accused of being involved in an execution-style killing three years ago.

Ayub Iman was found guilty of a second-degree murder charge in connection with the shooting death of 28-year-old Garad Roble in the early morning hours of March 5, 2019. He was found dead from nearly a dozen gunshot wounds on 45th St., Southeast just west of its intersection with County Road 1 on the southeast edge of Rochester.

The jury got the case against Iman around noon and returned a guilty verdict about 4 hours later. A presentence investigation was ordered for Iman, who is scheduled to be sentenced on June 2.

He was the second Rochester man to stand trial for Roble's murder. 32-year-old Muhidin Abukar is also charged with second-degree murder and his case was presented to an Olmsted County jury last December. A mistrial was declared after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Abukar is scheduled to be retried in the case in May.

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Members of an Olmsted County jury have begun deliberations in a local murder trial.

The panel got the case after hearing closing arguments this morning in the trial of 25-year-old Ayub Iman. He is the second Rochester man to stand trial on a second-degree murder charge connected to the execution-style slaying of 28-year-old Garad Roble on March 5, 2019.

The victim was found dead from nearly a dozen gunshot wounds just west of the intersection of Olmsted County Roads 1 and 101 on the southeast edge of Rochester. The criminal complaint against Iman alleges he and another man were linked to the crime scene and the area where the murder weapon was recovered through cell phone tracking technology.

The second suspect in the case, 32-year-old Muhidin Abukar, went to trial last December but the jury was unable to reach a verdict and the judge in the case declared a mistrial. Abukar is currently scheduled to stand trial for a second time in May.
