I-35 Has Re-Opened To Traffic After MnDOT Truck Hit

At 4:53 P.M. MnDOT reopened I-35 Southbound at Faribault after a crash involving a MnDOT arrow truck and vehicle closed the interstate for a little over an hour Thursday evening.
According to a Minnesota State Patrol accident report, 56-year-old Scott Bell of Owatonna was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Express Cutaway southbound on I-35 when he struck a MnDOT arrow truck, driven by, 34-year-old Spencer William Robert Marshall of New Prague that was also south on I-35 on the left shoulder giving pre-warning to motorists for mowing.
Marshall and Bell suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash. Marshall was taken to District One Hospital in Faribault and Bell was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Also responding to the scene of the accident were the Rice County Sheriff's Office and North Ambulance.

According to a news release from MnDOT southbound Interstate 35 motorists are being detoured to Highway 60 west at Faribault, because the road is closed for a vehicle crash.
MnDOT traffic cameras show traffic is backed up to near the Highway 21 exit. Reports indicate that a vehicle struck at MnDOT truck that was providing support behind a mower on southbound I-35.
The detour motorists are encouraged to use is: Go west on Highway 60 to Rice County Road 17/Steele County Road 11 south to Steele County Road 12 east to I-35 at Medford.
Northbound traffic remains open on I-35.
