It wasn't your imagination yesterday, we got A LOT of rain in our area. So much rain, in fact, mudslides closed down portions of 169 Southbound, streets in Northfield were closed due to standing water, and portions of LeSueur County roads were also closed due to all of the rainfall. But how much fell? The highest measured total from the National Weather Service indicated that Northfield topped the Minnesota list with 4.45" of rain.

Other portions of Northfield measured 4.31" and 3.94" of rain. Hastings recorded over 3.5" of rain, Le Center and Elko New Market had over 2.5" and Faribault measured more than 2" of rain. So with all the fresh rain that fell, what does that mean for people living along the Cannon River?

The Cannon River in Northfield has reached the Minor flooding stage and is expected to get gradually lower throughout the weekend. If we don't get any more precipitation between now and Monday, which doesn't seem likely given the forecast, the Cannon will no longer be considered to be flooding Monday afternoon.
