Former and Current NRHEG Panthers Honored
Former New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva wrestling coach Paul Cyr will be inducted into the Minnesota Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Recent Panthers' graduate Betsy Schoenrock was recognized for her strides in her first year of college basketball. The winter athletic award winners were recently announced for the current NRHEG athletes.
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame-Minnesota chapter induction is Saturday, April 27 at the Austin Holiday Inn Conference Center. Eight members will be added to the ranks, including Cyr who has spent 42 years as a wrestling coach and official. The Guillotine reports that Cyr's Panther teams won 445 matches with four of them advancing to the state dual meet tournament. The biography also states, "Many of Paul's wrestlers have enjoyed successes at the collegiate level."
