Hormel Foods Pays School Lunch Debt in Two Minnesota Communities
Tis' the season to make a difference in someone's life. There are so many companies out there that are trying to make a difference in so many communities across the world. Minnesota based Hormel Foods is one of those companies. The company that makes Spam and Skippy peanut butter and is choosing to have an impact on quite a few communities this year.
According to abc 6 News, Hormel Foods is gifting $28,000 to six communities this holiday season to pay off school lunch debt. Two Minnesota communities will receive this onetime check from the company in January to help reduce the unpaid lunch debt.
Those two communities are Austin Public School and West St. Paul-Mendota Hights-Egan Area Schools. Other schools receiving help are as follows:
- Dubuque Community School District in Iowa
- Knoxville Community School District in Iowa
- Six Schools near Tucker, Georgia
- Three Schools in Witchita, Kansas
All these communities are near Hormel Food plants. Yahoo News says that in some of these communities all the debt will be paid off with the donation the schools are receiving. In others, large portions of the debt will be paid off. The article says that the plan is to help out more communities that are near plants in the future.
The Hormel Foods website says that 2018 was a record year for the company. They donated around $15 million in cash and products and they hope to continue to make a difference in as many lives as they possibly can.
It is so great to see something like these impact communities in Minnesota. This is what the holidays are truly about!
