Well it will be Labor Day a week from today, and that generally means as a whole the days will begin to become cooler, and we will start to see the trees begin to turn from having green leaves into trees with rafts of colors like yellows, oranges, reds, and golds. So why not start thinking about ways you can get out and enjoy the fall color, while also golfing. Here are 4 area golf courses where you can get the best of both worlds with some challenging golf, amid a sea of changing colors.

The Summit Golf Club in Cannon Falls' story begins way back in 1875, when according to the golf courses website "Olaus “Ole” Benson purchased over one-hundred and sixty acres of extremely unique farmland on the western tip of what is known today as Cannon Falls, Minnesota.  Heavily wooded and surrounded by a limestone quarry, the plot was positioned on one of the highest points in Goodhue County." That mix of heavy woods, plus high peaks and winding hills make The Summit a great spot to enjoy all of the colors of fall with great views of the surrounding hills.

Legacy Golf in Faribault is one of those courses that possesses multiple feels on one golf course. The course is described online as having "three kinds of holes. The center of the course is slightly hilly, with classic tree-lined fairways. To the North, rolling topography is punctuated with prairie grasses, creating Scottish-style links. And in the South, there are beautiful vistas with the internationally known college prep school Shattuck-St. Mary’s in the background."

Willingers Golf Club in Northfield might be one of the best courses and in general, places to see some great fall color as the course is in the process of getting "Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" certification. On top of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary certification, the course also doesn't have any residential property abutting it, so it's nothing but grass, trees, hills, and some water.

Shoreland Country Club in St Peter has plenty of treelined fairways, so there will be some fall color, but you get something a little bit different with Shoreland as you are also getting views of "the Minnesota River Valley and Lake Emily." So you'll also get some autumn/fall views of what's happening out on the water, which could be migrating birds, and waterfowl flying by or bobbing in the lake.

Most Visited State Parks In Minnesota: Is Your Favorite in the List?

Minnesota has 66 beautiful state parks. The parks have an average of 9,700,000 visitors each year. Interestingly enough, nearly 19% of park visitors come from other states and countries, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Now, my favorite State Park is Jay Cooke in Carlton, MN, but it did not break into the top 5.
