The Owatonna Public Library is moving into its next phase of reopening, and just in time for summer!

The library will now be open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 am- 8 pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 am-5 pm, AND Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm.

A Few Important Updates:

  • Appointments are no longer necessary!
  • The library has ended the use of time limits, capacity and distance limits.
  • Per state order, face coverings are no longer required. However, the Owatonna Public Library encourages those who are not vaccinated to continue with the practice until said person is fully vaccinated.
  • An adult must accompany those 11 years of age and younger.
  • Items will no longer be automatically checked out to patrons.
  • Lastly, the staff at the library reminds visitors of the importance of hand-washing before and after entering the library.

It'll be nice to pursue the bookshelves as we did B.C. (Before COVID).

My summer goal is to get back into reading. As a kid, I read continuously, especially in the summer. It's a great way to keep your brain sharp (or at least that's what my mother always told me).

Last week, I started reading again for the first time in a while. I actually finished the book last night. It was thrilling! So, if you need a book recommendation, check out "An Anonymous Girl" by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I promise it'll keep you guessing till the very end.

Likewise, I'd love to hear your book recommendations! Chat with me at or on the Kat Kountry app.
