St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A statement released by the governor's office says Walz, along with Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, and Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm were in the same room with an infected staff member for the duration of a press conference that was held on Monday. The statement noted that the state leaders were not within six feet of the staff member for more than 15 minutes, but all three will quarantine for 10 days as a precaution.

The unnamed staff member was tested yesterday and was informed this morning of the positive result for the coronavirus. A spokesman for the governor says he has not been vaccinated and the lieutenant governor has received only one of the two doses of the Moderna vaccine. The Health Commissioner recently received the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine and remains within the 14-day waiting period for developing a strong antibody response to fight off infection.

The governor's State of the State address had been scheduled to take place Sunday evening from the classroom at Mankato West High School where Walz taught social studies during his teaching career. A new date for the annual address has yet to be determined.
