First Night Of HEAT In Twin Cities: State Patrol Locates Stolen Vehicle, Arrests 7 For DWI
You can run, but can't hide as the Minnesota State Patrol has upped their patrols along the interstate/freeways that run through the heart of the metro. The first night, Valentine's Day, netted 7 DWI arrests, a stolen vehicle, and 37 drivers stopped for speeding.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol Twitter account, the first night of their increased enforcement of the metro area, nicknamed HEAT, Highway Enforcement for Aggressive Traffic, was by all accounts a busy night for those employed by the Minnesota State Patrol.
The increased enforcement and focus will remain on metro area roads through February 23rd.
So far in 2022, 20 drivers have died on Minnesota roads, 2021 saw 500 people lose their lives on Minnesota roads according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
