Fate of the 2020 Minnesota State Fair to be Decided Tomorrow
There's been speculation as to whether or not the Minnesota State Fair will be able to happen this year. Tomorrow (Friday) the Minnesota State Fair Board will be meeting to decide if the Great Minnesota Get Together can be held this year.
The Minnesota State Fair had said on an Instagram post in the past that this year's fair is "all or nothing". They are not considering "alternate fair dates, a change in duration of the fair, or significant restrictions." As a big fan of the State Fair, I understand this decision. I'm not I would want to go to the fair if it's any different than it usually is, the extra crowds and all! If they, let's say, restricted the number of people in the fair at one time and we all had to social distance, it just wouldn't be the same.
There's no specific date that the board has to decide if the fair is happening or not this year, FOX 9 says, but it appears a decision will be made tomorrow. And hopefully we'll know the answer tomorrow as well.
Last year the Minnesota State Fair broke their attendance record with 2,126,551 people attending. This year's State Fair is supposed to be held August 27th through Labor Day.
Like I said earlier, I'm a huge State Fair fan. I take off of work so we can go during a weekday so it's a little less busy, we go literally all day, sometimes we go multiple times! But if the fair gets canceled for this year I already have a plan: I'm going to find recipes for my favorite State Fair foods and attempt to make them at home!
