Faribault Girls Hockey Will Play Austin Saturday
The Faribault Falcons girls hockey team will face off against the Austin Packers in the semifinals of Section 1A Saturday night at the Faribault Ice Arena. Austin won tonight 8-1 over Albert Lea in Austin.
The other semifinal contest will feature Rochester Lourdes hosting Albert Lea. The Tigers got by Red Win 3-1 in Albert Lea. The winners will play for the Section 1A Championship next Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in Owatonna.
Shots on goal were 39 for Waseca and 38 for Austin. Six Packers scored in the game led by junior Alexis Stich with a hat trick.
Austin enters the Saturday game 11-12 on the season with 80 goals scored and 94 allowed. Their penalty kill is 84.2%, power play 15.9%.
Sophomore Kate Holtz leads the team in scoring with 54 points. She tallied 5 points (1g, 4a) in the Packers playoff win over Waseca. Senior Jordyn McCormack had a goal and 3 assists in the win over Waseca and has 52 points with 30 goals and 22 assists.
Junior goalie Shelby Davidson is 9-7 between the pipes with a .921 save percentage and 2.91 goals against average.
