The Faribault Falcons girls hockey team defeated Rochester Mayo 9-1 in Rochester last night.  No scoresheet was made available so don't have scoring details here.  Falcons Head Coach Mike Dietsch couldn't recall all nine goals but was impressed with his team's defense.

Faribault had 39 shots on goal, the Spartans 10.   Talk about defensive consistency, the Falcons allowed 4 shots in the first period and 3 in each other period by Mayo.  Faribault was credited with 15 shots in the first period, 9 in the second, 15 in third.

Mikayla Bohner was obviously not under duress much with 9 saves.

Faribault was whistled for 3 penalties and Rochester Mayo 2 penalties.

It was 2-1 after the first period.  The Falcons added two goals in the second and five goals in the third period.

Faribault is 17-4 overall, 12-3 in Big Nine action.  Rochester Mayo drops to 4-14-1 and 3-11-1.

The Falcons travel back to Graham Arena in Rochester to face off against Rochester Century Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Spartans host Rochester John Marshall Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the same building.
