The Faribault Falcons girls hockey team defeated Minnesota River 6-1 at the Faribault Ice Arena last night.  Each team had one penalty in the game.  The Falcons outshot Minnesota River 40-12.

Falcons Haley Lang and Olivia Williamson were guests on the KDHL Faribault Coaches Show at Bashers co-sponsored by G&H Properties earlier in the day.  The seniors agreed the team had the talent to have a special season.

Multiple players have been able to bury pucks in the net.  The fewest goals Faribault has scored in a game so far has been 4 in their season opener against Albert Lea.  The Falcons are averaging 6 goals a game and senior goalie Mikayla Bohner is giving up one goal per contest.

Against the Bulldogs of Minnesota River 7 players collected points.  What might be the most impressive development was the fact the two top goal scorers for the team Olivia Williamson and Haley Lang did not score.  4 of the 7 Falcons had multiple point nights.

Faribault opened the scoring 9:14 into the first period when Anna Selly scored with assists by Abby Goodwin and Rylie Starkson.  That was the only goal of the period.

6:17 into the second period Starkson scored, assisted by Serenity Knott.  8:41 Ashley Rost was assisted by Goodwin and Starkson before Minnesota River got on the scoreboard at 12.58.  Keely Olness got the goal assisted by Ella Boomgaarden.

Rost scored her second goal 16.21 into the second period assisted by Grace McCoshen and Selly to make the score 4-1 heading into the final period.

4:14 into the third period Starkson scored an unassisted goal and the final goal was scored 13.27 by Isabelle Stephes unassisted.

Faribault had 13 shots on goal in the first period.  Minnesota River 3 shots.  The Falcons had 13 shots on goal in the second period.  Bulldogs 6 shots.  Faribault added 14 shots on goal in the third period.  Minnesota River 3 shots.

Minnesota River goalie Madison Kisor finished with 34 saves.  Bohner had 11 saves.

Faribault (4-0) hosts Rochester Century (0-3) Tuesday while Minnesota River (3-2) will see New Ulm (1-2) come to their rink on Thursday.
